The native range of this species is Temp. Northern Hemisphere to Tropical Mountains. It is a subshrub and grows primarily in the temperate biome. It is used to treat unspecified medicinal disorders, has environmental uses and social uses, as animal food, an ornamental plant and a medicine and for fuel and food.
