Morphology General
A straggling or scandent, usually spinose shrub, up to c. 3 m high
Morphology Leaves
Leaves 1.5–l0 × l.5–6 cm, ovate or elliptic to rhomboidal-elliptic, shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, glabrous and shiny above, glaucous and puberulous only on the nerves beneath; inflorescence 10–20 cm long with the flowers subtended by large, conspicuous, coloured bracts (in the sheet seen, lightly brown-mauve to green, with light brown-mauve markings), bracts 1.5–4 × 1–3.5 cm, ovate or orbicular, persistent; corolla bright yellow or lemon-yellow, 4.5–5.5 cm long.
