    Bulbs
    Bulb spherical, 7–16 cm wide with neck up to 13 cm long.
    Leaves
    Leaves green, V-shaped, 7–10 × 6–12 cm, erect to suberect, exposing thick woolly fibres when torn, with a scabrous sharp ridge traversing the dorsal apex of the V, most leaves usually with intact apices.
    Scape
    Scape up to 80 cm long; spathe valves persistent, erect.
    Flowers
    Flowers sessile, umbel 2–11 flowered.
    Perianth
    Perianth tube curved, 12–15 cm long; segments whitish with a purplish dorsal streak on keel at anthesis, lanceolate, acuminate, 10–13 × 2–3.5 cm, connivent into a bell shape.
    Filaments
    Filaments white or tinged with red, declinate, 0.7–0.9 cm long; anthers black at anthesis.
    Style
    Style white turning purple distally, 7.8–10.5 cm long.
    Fruits
    Fruits oblong to ovoid, with a short apical beak, shiny green turning yellowish or tinged with red at maturity.
    Seeds
    Seeds ovoid, smooth, greenish to greyish, 1.4–2.2 cm in diameter.
    Distribution
    Known only from the Flora area.
    Ecology
    In sandy to sandy clay soils on floodplains; 10–1000 m.
    Conservation
    Conservation notes: Widespread species; not threatened.
