Conservation
Data deficient.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Androecium Stamens
Stamens 40 - 45, inserted between disk and ovary, persisting longer than both sepals and petals; filaments straight to somewhat incurved, 2 - 2.5 mm long, tapering from base to apex, glabrous; anthers minutely and fairly densely hairy, 2.5 - 4 mm long, with outer tooth slightly longer than inner, anther apex acute but without awn, beak or setae at tip
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Calyx
Sepals falling earlier than stamens, 9 - 9.5 x 3 - 3.5 mm, with fairly dense ± adpressed short soft hairs outside, glabrous inside and with low keel inside at base fading towards tip
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Corolla
Petals thick-membranous, just translucent, obovate, appearing clawed due to infolding of margins, 7- 8 mm long, 3.5 - 4 mm wide at widest point of limb, rounded at apex, with 12-14 apical divisions unequal in length and sometimes grouped into c. 3 lobes, variably (narrow-) triangular and acute, 0.1 - 1 mm long, petals glabrous outside, margins ciliate to short hairy in lower half, obviously hairy inside ± throughout the lower half sometimes with glabrous areas between keel and margins, keel present inside as a fold but + flat at midpoint, weakly 2-pocketed at base, the margins only somewhat infolded
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Disc
Disk annular, toothed, 0.4 mm high, sparsely short-hairy
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Gynoecium Ovary
Ovaries placed above the disk, clearly narrowed at base, 3 mm long, very minutely hairy (so indumentum could be missed), 2 locular; ovules 8 - 10 per loculus; style tapering to a point, 3 - 4 mm long.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Racemes borne behind the leaves but condensed towards twig tips, 7.5 - 30 cm long, 20 - 40-flowered; flowers bisexual, 4-merous; bracts early caducous, narrow-triangular, hairy like the axes, 2 - 3 mm long, entire; bracteoles on pedicels absent; pedicels 6- 12 mm long in flower, 12- 15 mm long in fruit; buds ± ovoid, obtuse to acute at apex
Note
The fruit of this collection has the characteristic crests described in Coode (1998: 87).
