    Habit
    Annual herb, (15–)20–50 cm tall
    Stem
    Stems simple, little-branched or much-branched, filiform and glabrous, rarely with a few glands
    Leaves
    Leaves alternate, subsessile, linear to lorate, 3–15 × 0.2–1 mm, acute, base cuneate, glabrous
    Flowers
    Flowers pink, purplish or greenish-white, in lax or dense terminal racemes (occasionally some lateral) 6–10(–20) cm long; rachis glabrous; bracts linear, 0.6–0.8 mm long, glabrous, soon caducous; bracteoles linear, 0.3–0.5 mm long, glabrous, soon caducous; pedicels 0.2–0.5 mm, glabrous
    Calyx
    Posterior sepal linear, 1–1.5 mm long, glabrous; wing sepals elliptic or oblanceolate, (1.5–)1.7–2 × 0.7–1 mm, glabrous; anterior sepals linear, 0.7–1 mm long, glabrous, free
    Corolla
    Upper petals lanceolate or elliptic, 1.5–2 mm long; carina 1.2–1.5 mm long; crest 0.5 mm long, ± fimbriate

    Capsule elliptic to suborbicular in outline, 1–1.5 × 1–1.3 mm, unwinged, glabrous
    Seeds
    Seeds ellipsoid, (0.7–)1 × 0.5–0.6 mm, with minute, white appressed hairs or rarely with some glochidiate hairs; caruncle absent.
