    Compositae, G. V. Pope. Flora Zambesiaca 6:1. 1992

    Habit
A shrub or small tree 1–4 m. tall; branches leafy, densely greyish appressed tomentellous at first, becoming less densely so and exposing lenticels on older branches, the indumentum of matted T-shaped hairs.
    Leaves
Leaves petiolate; petiole 2–8 mm. long with an indumentum similar to that of branches; lamina mostly 3–6.5 x 1.5–3 cm., sometimes smaller, less often up to c. 8 x 4 cm., elliptic to oblong-ovate or obovate, apex subacute to rounded, base cuneate sometimes unequal, margins subentire to obscurely serrulate, subcoriaceous and discolorous, upper surface green, glandular otherwise glabrous, lower surface densely greyish tomentellous.
    Capitulum
Capitula massed in 1-many small dense subumbellate clusters 1–4 cm. across, the clusters 4–15-capitulate and arranged at ends of twigs or sometimes the capitula becoming fewer with subumbels reduced to 2–3 distinctly stalked, laxly arranged capitula in abbreviated panicles.
    Involucre
Involucres usually 6–8 x 2.5 mm., subcylindric gradually narrowing to apex, sometimes up to c. 10 x 4.5 mm. and narrowly ovoid.
    Phyllaries
Phyllaries tightly appressed-imbricate, outermost c. 1 mm. long and broadly ovate-acute, longer towards the inside becoming oblong-oblanceolate, rounded and scarious at apex; inner up to 8–10 mm. long, lamina glabrous with margins ± araneose-ciliate.
    Florets
Florets 4–12 per capitulum; corollas white or pale-mauve, up to c. 9 mm. long, narrowly funnel-shaped.
    Fruits
Achenes 3–4 mm. long, narrowly turbinate to subcylindric and tapering towards the base, somewhat 3–4-angular and 4–6-ribbed, glabrous seldom sparsely hispidulous; pappus long-exserted beyond involucre, outer pappus of short linear-lanceolate scales, inner of whitish or straw-coloured flattened setae 5–6 mm. long and serrulate-barbellate on edges.

Leaves petiolate, elliptic, 1-6.6 cm long, 0.8-3.7 cm wide, base cuneate, margins minutely denticulate, apex obtuse to acute, apiculate, green and glabrous above, silvery with dense tomentum beneath; petiole 2-8 mm long.
    Capitulum
Capitula in small terminal corymbiform cymes; involucre subcylindric, 6-10 mm long; phyllaries 6-seriate, broadly ovate to oblong, 6.5-10 mm long, the inner slightly expanded, obtuse to rounded, obscurely apiculate, pale green, hairy at apex, the inner scarious.
    Florets
Florets 4-12 per capitulum; corolla white tinged mauve, 8-9 mm long, lobes 2.5-2.7 mm long, glabrous.
