    Habit
    Shrub 75–90 cm. tall with slender angular stems, the nodes sometimes purplish, with many axillary branchlets in 3s above; young shoots with short adpressed ± sparse brown or whitish pubescence.
    Leaves
    Leaves in whorls of three, elliptic, 1–2.5(–5) cm. long, 0.4–1.5 cm. wide, acute at the apex, cuneate at the base, entire or with 1–2 acute teeth, often only on one side, ciliate or with few very short hairs on the midrib, ± glabrescent.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescences axillary 1–3-flowered cymes, 1–3 per node, often 2 per axil; peduncles 1.5–3 cm. long, pedicels 1–3 mm. long; axes very sparsely shortly white pubescent; bracts lanceolate, 2.5 mm. long, 0.5–0.8 mm. wide.
    Buds
    Buds asymmetric.
    Calyx
    Calyx purple; tube cupular, 2 mm. long; lobes triangular, 2 mm. long.
    Corolla
    Corolla-tube greenish or brownish yellow, 5 mm. long, glabrous outside but with pubescent throat; lip blue-mauve towards throat and side-lobes yellow, 5 mm. long, 3 mm. wide.
    Filaments
    Filaments greenish, exserted 12 mm.
    Style
    Style greenish, exserted 12 mm.
    Fruits
    Fruit depressed, 8 mm. long, 5 mm. wide, ± 3-lobed.
