    Habit
    Shrub to 2 m. tall or a liane.
    Leaves
    Leaves clustered at the nodes or the ends of the branches, petiolate, simple; blade oblanceolate, 20–29 cm. long, 5.5–10 cm. wide, acuminate, cuneate at the base, glabrous; petiole 1–1.5 cm. long.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence a lateral raceme, 1.5–3 cm. long; pedicels 2–5 mm. long.
    Calyx
    Sepals 4, oblong-lanceolate, 8–12 mm. long, ± 4 mm. wide.
    Corolla
    Petals 4, oblong-lanceolate, up to 14–20 mm. long, 1–2 mm. wide.
    Stamens
    Stamens about 20, 15–17 mm. long.
    Gynophore
    Gynophore 15–20 mm. long; ovary cylindrical or ovoid, ± 3 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Fruits ovoid to shortly cylindrical and subtorulose, 1.4–3 cm. long, with 1–5 seeds.
    Habitat
    Lowland rain-forest; 1100–1200 m.
