    Habit
    Annual herb, prostrate, often mat-forming.
    Leaves
    Leaves elliptic, broadly ovate to almost round, 1–4.5 cm long, 0.8–4 cm wide, base truncate or shortly cuneate, margins subentire to dentate, apex acute or obtuse, pubescent but quickly glabresecnt, densely glandular; petiole to 1 cm long.
    Capitulum
    Capitula axillary, on a short stalk; involucre 3 mm long, accrescent in fruit and then up to 10 mm long; phyllaries ciliate.
    Florets
    Florets yellow or greenish cream, the rays 1.4 mm long and glandular; disc florets ± 2 mm long, glandular.
    Fruits
    Fruits usually 4–5, oblong, 8–10 mm long, 5–7-ribbed, the angles with 1–2 rows of hooked spines 1–2 mm long, apex with large pore, glandular.
    Habitat
    uderal; 150–1850 m
    Distribution
    K3 K4 T7 originally from tropical America but now a spreading pantropical weed
