Morphology General Habit
Shrub to 2 m or tree to 4 m high, with branches and stems fleshy.

Leaves entirely glabrous, to 14 × 5.5 cm, obovate, obtuse at the apex, tapering at the base into a petiole 5–10 mm long, margins entire, lower surface often blotched with red and midrib with a crenulate keel 1 mm wide.

Cymes 2–5, axillary, pseudumbellate, on sparsely pubescent peduncles to 3 cm long, each usually 2 times dichotomously forked with a sessile cyathium (involucre) in each fork and at the tips of the ultimate branchlets; cyme branches to 1 cm long, pubescent, otherwise glabrous; bracts c. 3 × 3 mm, subquadrate, irregularly toothed, sparsely hairy.

Cyathia c. 3 × 5.5 mm, with cup-shaped involucres, sparsely hairy at the base; glandular rim c. 0.75 mm wide, distinctly furrowed; lobes c. 1.5 × 1.5 mm, subquadrate, denticulate.
