Morphology General Habit
Annual with branching stems erect to 35 cm. high, glabrous except occasionally for a few long, scattered hairs on the basal branches and leaves, the whole plant often tinged red.

Leaves subsessile, lanceolate, to 18 × 4 mm., base obliquely rounded to subcordate, apex rounded apiculate, margin entire in the lower half, serrated in the upper half, sometimes obscurely so; stipules ± 1 mm. long, linear and toothed at the broader base.
