    Habit
    Annual; culms slender, 60–80 cm. long, erect or decumbent and often rooting at the lower nodes.
    Leaves
    Leaf-blades linear-lanceolate, 10–18 cm. long, 7–10 mm. wide, cordate at the base, dark green, subglabrous, antrorsely scabrid above, acuminate.
    Inflorescences
    Panicle narrowly oblong, 25–40 cm. long, sparsely branched, the primary branches long, ascending or appressed to the axis, secondary branches short.
    Spikelets
    Spikelets ovate-oblong, (1.5–)2 mm. long, glabrous, acute; lower glume narrowly ovate, 1/4 the length of the spikelet, 3-nerved; upper glume ovate, 1/3–1/2 the length of the spikelet, exposing the back of the upper lemma, 3-nerved, obtuse; lower lemma 5-nerved, sterile, its palea absent; upper lemma ovate, tessellate, with a small greenish beak.

Fertile lemma ovate; dorsally compressed; 1.5 mm long; indurate; pallid; without keel. Lemma surface reticulate. Lemma margins involute. Lemma apex apiculate; with a little green crest. Palea involute; indurate.
