    Habit
    Short-lived perennial to 1 m, with coarsely hairy stems.
    Leaves
    Leaves petiolate, broadly ovate or ovate-oblong, 7–14(–20) × 5–10 cm, coarsely serrate, pubescent; verticils 2–6-flowered.
    Bracts
    Bracts ± obscuring flowers, pink to mauve, ovate, acuminate, 15–35 mm long.
    Calyx
    Calyx usually coloured, campanulate, 10–13 mm long.
    Corolla
    Corolla 20–30 mm long; posterior lip lilac, falcate, longer than the broader, cream anterior lip.
