    Habit
    Subshrub 30–100 cm tall; stems with dense pale buff, greyish or yellow (when young) long-armed stellate hairs, upper internodes with or without few (rarely numerous, see note) interspersed spreading glandular hairs.
    Leaves
    Leaves reniform or broadly ovate, 0.6–2.3 × 0.8–2.8 cm, base truncate or shallowly cordate, apex rounded, often with a short attenuate tip, surfaces with ± dense pale long-armed stellate hairs, sometimes with a few glandular hairs along margin; lateral veins 2–4 pairs; petiole 2.5–14 mm long.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence axillary, 1(2)-flowered; peduncle 1–3 mm long, secondary peduncle if present 3–8 mm long; bracteoles linear or narrowly oblanceolate, 6.5–19 × 0.7–2(3.5) mm, straight or somewhat declinate, margin entire or minutely spinulose, apex spinulose.
    Calyx
    Calyx green or mauve- to blue-tinged at first with ± darker reticulate venation, soon turning pale-scarious, somewhat accrescent; outer lobes subequal, broadly ovate, (8)10.5–18.5 × (5)7–16 mm, base cordate or truncate and shortly narrowed, margin denticulate to spinulose-dentate, each tooth with an apical stellate-based bristle, apex acute, obtuse or subattenaute in outline, spinulose, anterior lobe sometimes 2–3-toothed, surface with long-armed stellate hairs most numerous along veins and towards base; lateral lobes lanceolate, 4–8 mm long.
    Corolla
    Corolla 29–48 mm long, pale blue or mauve with whitish tube and throat, retrorse-pubescent externally, rarely with a few interspersed glandular hairs; tube 21–37 mm long, narrowly cylindrical; limb in weak 2+3 arrangement; abaxial and lateral lobes 7–9.5 × 4–6.5 mm; adaxial lobes 5.5–7.5 × 2.5–5 mm.
    Stamens
    Stamens attached in distal third of corolla tube; filaments 9.5–11.5 mm long; anthers 1.8–2.8 mm long; lateral staminodes c.1.5 mm long, pilose, antherodes c.0.5 mm long.
    Ovary
    Ovary with dense apical tuft of pale crisped hairs; style glabrous; stigma linear or clavate, 0.5–0.9 mm long.
    Fruits
    Capsule 9.5–13 mm long, glabrous or with few long pale hairs on dorsal side of each valve.
    Seeds
    Seeds 3–4 mm long and wide.
