    Habit
    Perennial suffruticose herb or subshrub 30–150 cm tall; stems with dense golden(-brown) long-armed stellate hairs with a dense fasciculate-stellate (sometimes dendritic) base, often with spreading glandular hairs.
    Leaves
    Leaves ovate, elliptic or suborbicular, 1.8–9 × 1.3–6 cm, base truncate, subcordate, obtuse or cuneate, apex rounded to subattenuate, sometimes abruptly narrowed to a short acumen, surfaces densely long-armed stellate-pubescent, margin sometimes with spreading glandular hairs; lateral veins 3–6 pairs, these and reticulate tertiary venation prominent beneath; petiole 0–17 mm long.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescences axillary or clustered towards stem apex to form an interrupted thyrse, each cyme unilateral, 1–4-flowered, sessile or peduncle to 5(9) mm long; bracteoles linear(-lanceolate), narrowly elliptic or oblanceolate, 7–23 × 0.5–5.5 mm, margin entire, apex ± mucronate; pedicels 0–4.5 mm long.
    Calyx
    Calyx yellow-green to green-brown with darker brown venation, tardily scarious; anterior lobe (oblong-)elliptic to somewhat obovate, 9–18 × 5–12.5 mm, margin entire or minutely denticulate, involute, apex rounded, obtuse or shallowly emarginate, indumentum as leaves, glandular hairs mainly on margins and apex; posterior lobe slightly larger, apex rounded to attenuate, ± mucronulate; lateral lobes lanceolate, ovate or oblong-elliptic, 6–14.5 mm long.
    Corolla
    Corolla 29–50 mm long, pale blue, pink or purple, rarely white, pilose externally with mixed glandular and eglandular hairs; tube cylindrical, 14–29 mm long, ± curved below attachment point of stamens; limb in 2+3 arrangement; abaxial and lateral lobes 12.5–22 × 9–15 mm; adaxial lobes 11–19.5 × 6.5–11.5 mm.
    Stamens
    Stamens attached 8.5–16.5 mm from base of corolla; filaments 12–28 mm long; anthers 3.2–6.2 mm long; lateral staminodes 2–3.5 mm long, sparsely pubescent or pilose and with minute stalked glands, antherodes absent or poorly developed, to 0.6 mm long.
    Ovary
    Ovary pubescent towards apex or only with apical tuft of hairs; style pubescent towards base; stigma clavate to linear, 0.5–1 mm long.
    Fruits
    Capsule 13.5–17 mm long, sparsely pilose towards apex.
    Seeds
    Seeds 4–5 mm long and wide.
