    Habit
    Small straggling tree 6–10.5 m. tall, with smooth brown to greenish-grey bark, the vegetative parts glabrous or nearly so.
    Leaves
    Leaves 3–7-foliolate, up to 20–33 cm. long; stipules subulate-caudate, up to 1.5–2.5 mm. long, caducous; lateral leaflets ovate-elliptic, (5.5–)8–14 cm. long, (3–)4–7 cm. wide, smaller than terminal leaflet, caudate-acuminate; primary lateral nerves 5–8 on either side, curved-ascending, looped well within the margin; venation slightly prominent on both surfaces.
    Inflorescences
    Racemes produced severally from knobs on the old wood, sometimes 1–2-branched, 3–10 cm. long, with rather numerous fairly closely arranged flowers, shortly hairy; bracts subulate to linear, 1–2 mm. long; pedicels 3–7 mm. long, jointed, in upper half and with 2 very small bracteoles near the base.
    Calyx
    Calyx and hypanthium together 7.5–10 mm. long, not angled at the junction, minutely but densely brown velutinous.
    Corolla
    Corolla white or cream to pale pink or mauvish, 1.4–1.8 cm. long; wing- and keel-petals lightly coherent at least in young flowers.
    Fruits
    Fruit 10–20 cm. long, 3–6-seeded, covered by a very short brown velvety tomentum.
