    Habit
    Tree up to 15–25 m. high, not buttressed, with smooth yellowish-grey bark scaling off in patches; crown dense, round; young bran.chlets densely brown-pubescent; older twigs glabrous.
    Leaves
    Leaves:petiole with rhachis 7.5–15(–20) cm. long, brown-pubescent; leaflets in 4–6 pairs, oblong-lanceolate to narrowly oblong-elliptic, 5–12(–17.5) cm. long, 1.2–3(–6.9) cm. wide, acuminate, rounded to cuneate-rounded at base, glabrous above, beneath with a very dense minute appressed indumentum concealing the surface and with a silky copper-coloured sheen; lateral nerves 12–18 on each side of the midrib.
    Hypanthium
    Hypanthium glabrous.
    Corolla
    Petals 5, one of them much larger than the rest and deeply bilobed; 4 very reduced.
    Stamens
    Stamens (4–)5 large, well-developed; 4 minute, staminodial.
    Fruits
    Pods elliptic to irregularly oblong, 5–9.5 cm. long, 4–5 cm. wide, densely dark brown-tomentellous; obliquely transverse nerves numerous and raised.
