- Erect, rather woody, branching annual up to 1 m. tall from a taproot; all vegetative parts rather densely appressed strigulose.

- Lower leaves ± 11-foliolate, upper 5–7-foliolate; stipules narrowly attenuate, up to 5 mm. long; rhachis up to 3 cm. long, including a petiole of ± 5 mm., not, or but little, prolonged beyond lateral leaflets; leaflets oblanceolate, shortly acuminate, up to 2 cm. long and 4 mm. wide.

- Panicles subcapitate at the ends of the branches, each with an involucre of 2–3 leaf-like outer bracts; inner bracts usually trifid, the segments resembling the calyx-lobes; pedicel ± 1 mm. long, erect in flower and fruit.

- Calyx closely covered with spreading silky hairs, divided to the base, the lobes narrowly lanceolate-sublinear, ± 7 mm. long.

- Corolla deep rose; standard apiculate, 4.5 mm. long, pilose outside.

- Stamens ± 4 mm. long, the 4 shorter among the 9 united stamens usually without anthers.
