- Habit
- An erect annual or short-lived perennial up to 1 m. tall, appressed brown and white strigose without multicellular hairs.
- Leaves
- Stipules subulate, up to 3 mm. long; rhachis, including a petiole of 1–3 mm., up to 17 mm. long, prolonged 0–3 mm. beyond the lateral leaflets; leaflets 3 or rarely 5, oblanceolate, up to 20 mm. long and 5 mm. wide, the terminal longer than the lateral, strigose on both surfaces.
- Inflorescences
- Racemes very dense, 15–20-flowered, ± blackish strigose, the fertile part 1–2 cm., the peduncle up to 3 cm. long.
- Calyx
- Calyx blackish strigose, 2–3 mm. long, divided almost to the base.
- Corolla
- Standard pointed, dark strigose outside. Keel rostrate, blackish strigose near the tip.
- Stamens
- Stamens ± 3 mm. long.
- Fruits
- Pod up to 4 mm. long and 1.5 mm. wide, with black or grey biramous hairs, without multicellular hairs, 1–2-seeded; endocarp not spotted.
- Habitat
- Upland grassland and woodland; 1600–1800 m.; rainfall 1000–1500 mm.
