Diagnostic
A much-branched half-woody herb, much resembling I. burttii, but the indumentum is less copious, the flowers are solitary on 1 mm. long pedicels in the axils of 1-foliolate bracts and more or less concealed between their stipules.
Leaves
The foliage leaves are usually 1-foliolate with a petiole not above 2 mm. long.
Corolla
Standard light red, glabrous or with a few long hairs.
Ovary
Ovary glabrous, much shorter than the style, 2-ovulate.
Fruits
Fruit erect, 2-seeded, 4 mm. long, the endocarp with 4 longitudinal lines opposite grooves in the cuboid seeds.
Habitat
Deciduous woodland and grassland on sandy soil; 1050–1350 m.; rainfall 800–1000 mm.
