- Habit
- Shrub up to 2–2·5 (5) m. tall; branchlets ± patent-stellate-hispid, some hairs projecting to c. 0·5 mm.
- Leaves
- Leaf-lamina up to 3·5 × 3 cm., elliptic or ovate to sub-orbicular in outline with tendency to become 3-lobed, rather densely stellate-hispid on both surfaces, apex obtuse or rounded, margin irregularly crenate-serrate, base obtuse to slightly cordate 5–7-nerved; petiole 4–15 mm. long; stipules 4 mm. long, acicular.
- Flowers
- Flowers 2–2·5 cm. in diam., opening pure white and turning rose-pink, solitary, axillary; peduncle up to 3 cm. long, articulated 5 mm. below the apex.
- Epicalyx
- Epicalyx of 5–7 bracts; bracts 4–7 mm. long, linear.
- Calyx
- Calyx up to 10 mm. long, hispid; lobes 5–8 × 1–2 mm., linear-triangular.
- Corolla
- Petals 1–2 cm. long, obovate to elliptic, stellate-setose outside, glabrous inside.
- Stamens
- Staminal tube 6–8 mm. long; free parts of filaments 0·5 mm. long.
- Style
- Style-branches 5–7 mm. long.
- Fruits
- Capsule 8–9 × 8–10 mm., subglobose, pubescent.
- Seeds
- Seeds with a white silky floss.
