    Habit
    Bulbous herb; bulb 1.8–4 cm wide.
    Leaves
    Leaves linear, up to 35 × 0.5–2.5 cm, usually one from each bulb.
    Scape
    Scape 4.5–20 cm long; spathe valves 1.5–3 × 0.2 cm.
    Pedicel
    Pedicels 0.6–1.5(2) cm long.
    Flowers
    Flowers solitary or rarely two, purplish pink to orange brown.
    Perianth
    Perianth tube narrow below, opening to funnel-shaped above, segments 0.4–0.8 cm wide, tube with segments together 3–5 cm long.
    Filaments
    Filaments purplish pink to orange brown; anthers c.3 mm long.
    Seeds
    Seeds up to 0.8 cm long.
    Distribution
    Also found in NE South Africa and Swaziland; 1400–1800 m.
    Conservation
    Conservation notes: Widespread distribution; not threatened.
