    Habit
    Bulbous herb; bulb up to 3 cm wide.
    Leaves
    Leaves up to 30 × 0.4–0.6 cm, most often appearing after flowering.
    Scape
    Scape to 30 cm long; spathe valves 2–3.5 × 0.4 cm.
    Pedicel
    Pedicels 1.5–4 cm long.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence 2–4 flowered; flowers bright red.
    Perianth
    Perianth tube slender, curved; segments approximately ¼ length of tube; perianth (3.5)4–5.5 cm long.
    Fruits
    Fruits not known.
    Distribution
    Only known from E Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
    Ecology
    In grassland, swamps and along rivers; 1200–1800 m.
    Conservation
    Conservation notes: Restricted distribution, mostly in upland and montane areas; probably Lower Risk near threatened.
