        This species is accepted, and its native range is E. Himalaya to Assam.

    Distribution

    Sikkim, Bhutan and north-east India: Arunchal Pradesh; 1400–2200 m altitude.

    General Description

    A terrestrial herb forming clumps. Leaves arranged in a fan on a short stem, 4–8, linear-ligulate, unequally minutely tridenticulate at obtuse or rounded apex, 7.5–28 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, serrulate on margins towards apex, mid-green to dark green, faintly mottled on upper side, paler green below. Inflorescence 1- (or rarely 2-) flowered; peduncle 12–45 cm long, slender, light green, covered by purplish hairs; bract elliptic, obtuse, 1–4 cm long, 0.8 cm wide, whitish, purple-pubescent. Flower small to large, showy; sepals white, veined green and purple, ± suffused purple on dorsal sepal; petals similar; lip yellow-green to olive with darker veining; staminode yellow, veined green and purple in centre; pedicel and ovary 3.5–6 cm long, purple and purple-hairy. Dorsal sepal elliptic, obtuse, 3.4–8 cm long, 2.9–7 cm wide, ciliate, apical margins recurved, side margins undulate. Synsepal ovate, rounded at apex, 2.4–3.5 cm long, 1.7–2.5 cm wide. Petals reflexed-decurved, somewhat S-shaped, narrowly oblong, acute, 4–5 cm long, 0.9–1.5 cm wide, undulate and ciliate on margins. Lip deeply slipper-shaped, shortly apiculate and outcurved at apex, 3–5 cm long, 1.6–2.25 cm wide. Staminode elliptic, tridentate at apex, 9 mm long, 7 mm wide. 2n = 26.
