    Distribution

    Borneo: Sarawak and western Kalimantan; 150–800 m altitude.

    General Description

    A terrestrial herb. Leaves 5–6, oblong-elliptic, obtuse and minutely tridentate at apex, 7–23 cm long, 2.7–5 cm wide, boldly tessellated dark and light green on upper surface. Inflorescence 1-flowered; peduncle to 50 cm long, purple, white-pubescent; bract lanceolate, acute, 20–30 mm long, 14 mm wide, pale brownish, pubescent. Flower 8–10 cm across; ovary 5 cm long, bright green, pubescent. Dorsal sepal ovate, acute, 3–4 cm long, 2.3–2.9 cm wide, with reflexed basal margins, cream flushed bright green in centre. Synsepal elliptic, bidentate, 2–3 cm long, 1.4–1.6 cm wide, pale yellow. Petals deflexed, half twisted in middle, spathulate, subacute, 4–5.5 cm long, 1.5–2.2 cm wide, ciliate, pale green, heavily spotted brown in basal two-thirds, margins and apical third purple. Lip 3.8–4.2 cm long, 1.7 cm wide, brown, brown-warted on side lobes, ciliate on slightly reflexed apical margin. Staminode circular, apically excised, 10 mm long and wide; side-lobes at apex incurved-falcate. 2n = 28.
