    Moluccas (Ambon, Buru); 900–2000 m altitude.

    General Description

    A terrestrial herb. Leaves 4–6, 18–30 cm long, 3.5–4.3 cm wide, oblong-elliptic, acute and tridenticulate at apex, faintly tessellated dark and pale green on upper surface. Inflorescence 1-flowered; peduncle 15–30 cm long, densely coarsely hairy, maroon; bract ovate-elliptic, acute, 2–2.9 cm long, 1.8–2 cm wide, green, ciliate. Flower 8.5–9.5 cm across; pedicel and ovary 5.5–9.5 cm long, green with purple ridges, covered with long purple hairs. Dorsal sepal broadly ovate, obtuse, 3–3.7 cm long, 3.2–4.3 cm wide, pubescent on outer surface, finely shortly ciliate, cream with a bright green centre. Synsepal ovate, obtuse, 2.3–2.9 cm long 1.7–2 cm wide, greenish yellow. Petals slightly reflexed, oblong-spathulate, obtuse and broadly tridentate at apex, 4.5–5.5 cm long, 1.3–2 cm wide, very shortly ciliate, glossy, greenish and spotted blackish maroon towards base, brownish in apical half. Lip 4.3–5.2 cm long, 2.4–3 cm wide, pale rosy-brown, with pale brown spots on the side-lobes. Staminode lunate, 8–11 mm long, 8–10 mm wide, with a divided base and excised apical margin, shortly pubescent, side-lobes of apical margin incurved-falcate, pale green and brown.
