    Habit
    A much-branched shrub 1.5–6 m. high, with many stems ascending and arching, the outermost stems or branches touching the ground, glabrous except the youngest shoots which sometimes have minute stellate indumentum; bark grey and sometimes flaking off.
    Leaves
    Leaves mostly unifoliolate, sometimes 3(–5)-foliolate, crowded on short node-like branchlets or alternate; petiole of simple leaves 2–12 mm. long; petiole-rachis of compound leaves up to 3.3 cm. long, pubescent with minute stellate hairs when young; lamina ovate-elliptic to obovate-oblong, 1–4 cm. long, 1–3 cm. broad, broadly obtuse or retuse at the apex, obtuse at the base, margin entire, glabrous except the juvenile ones which have minute stellate indumentum, greyish green.
    Inflorescences
    Male inflorescence unknown. Female inflorescences very short; flowers fragile; calyx-lobes 4, somewhat triangular and wider at the base, 0.4–0.5 mm. long; petals 4, oblong, 1.2–2 mm. long, reddish; stamens 8, 0.7–1 mm. long, filaments inserted at the base of the disk; ovary 1.2–1.5 mm. long, smooth; styles 4, reddish.

    Fruits
    Drupes oblong and slightly concave on one side, 6–9 mm. long, 4–5 mm. in diameter, the apex showing remains of 3–4 styles, reddish, glabrous.
    Habitat
    Deciduous bushland; 75–600 m.
