Habit
An erect herb, 9–18 dm. tall, stems glabrous to softly pubescent in lower part, pubescent in upper part and inflorescence branches.
Leaves
Leaves variable but generally with deep and narrow to very narrow and even linear segments.
Inflorescences
Final inflorescence branches 2–5 cm. long.
Flowers
Flowers about 3 cm. diam.
Calyx
Sepals deep blue to green or mixed blue and green; spur typically pointing upwards, stout and straight, 2.5–3 cm. long.
Carpels
Carpels and follicles 3, densely pubescent.
Habitat
Upland grasslands and margins of moist bamboo thickets, 1800–3900 m.
Distribution
