Morphology General Habit
Glabrous perennial herb, with an elongated tuberous root producing a woody subterranean stem to 2 cm. long; annual stems 1–3, to 5 cm. high, with up to 4 branches.

Leaves sessile, linear, to 15 × 3 mm., margin entire; stipules apparently absent.

Cymes of solitary cyathia on peduncles to 15 mm. long; bracts much longer than the involucre, free, lanceolate, ± 6.5 × 3 mm.
