    Habit
    Herb up to 65 cm high, stem slender; corm globose, 0.5–0.8 cm long, 0.6–0.7 cm in diameter; cataphyll(s) up to 10.5 cm long.
    Leaves
    Leaves narrowly elliptic-lanceolate to ovate, 5.5–13 cm long, 1.5–2.5 cm wide, apex acute, sometimes acuminate.
    Flowers
    Flowers axillary; pedicel up to 4.5 cm long; perianth at the base green, segments orange, vermillion, light red to red outside, yellow to orange inside; perianth tube 1–2(–3) mm long, perianth segments narrowly lanceolate-elliptic, 28–40 mm long, 3–6 mm wide.
    Stamens
    Stamens less than half as long as the perianth; filaments filiform, 4–8 mm long; anthers 4–6 mm long, 1 mm wide.
    Pistil
    Ovary 5–8 mm long, 2–2.5 mm wide; style 4–8 mm long.
    Fruits
    Capsule 13 mm long, 4 mm in diameter.
