    Habit
    Succulent, sometimes subshrubby herb 0.6–1.5 m. tall, entirely glabrous save for the throat of the corolla and the style; stems often drying reddish or straw-coloured, woody.
    Leaves
    Leaf-blades elliptic-lanceolate, 11–15 cm. long, 2.8–6 cm. wide, acute or slightly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base; petiole 0–1 cm. long; stipules with 3–6 setae 0.5–1.5 cm. long arising from a narrow base and bearing rather conspicuous colleters.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescences much branched, loosely cymose; pedicels and secondary peduncles 0.2–3.5 cm. long, the flowers often looking as if solitary, sometimes subtended by linear-lanceolate leaves 5.2 cm. long, 2.5 mm. wide.
    Flowers
    Flowers white, sweetly scented, showing limited dimorphism.
    Calyx
    Calyx-tube yellowish, 5–6 mm. long; lobes subequal, linear or subulate, 1–2.8 cm. long, 1–2 mm. wide at their base.
    Corolla
    Corolla-tube 7–12 cm. long, 1.5–2.5 mm. wide at the base, dilating to 2.5–3.5 for an apical distance of 8–10 mm.; lobes oblong-lanceolate, 1–1.3 cm. long, 2–3.5 mm. wide, papillate internally; throat hairy with long hairs for 2 cm.

    Stamens always included.
    Style
    Style exserted or included, minutely scaly-tomentose.
    Fruits
    Fruit straw-coloured or brownish, ellipsoidal, 0.9–1.3 cm. long, 8–9 mm. wide, 6 mm. thick, the limb-tube of the calyx 2–3(–4) mm. tall; beak little raised and intravalvular opening small.
    Habitat
    In cracks of granite rocks on exposed hill tops; 1125–1350 m.
