Habit
Suffrutex up to 30 cm. tall with a woody rootstock; stems upright, branched, cinnamon-coloured, cylindric, slightly striate, glabrescent at the base, ± villous at the apex.
Petiole
Petiole 0·3–1·8 cm. long, slightly canaliculate or flat above, ± villous.
Leaflets
Leaflets sessile, discolorous (ferruginous above, pale cinnamon-coloured below), not shining, papyraceous, with very slightly revolute margin, sparsely villous on both surfaces, a little more so on the nerves and margin; median leaflet 3·5–8 × 1·7–3·3 cm., broadly to narrowly elliptic, somewhat narrowed at the apex into a short cuspidate acumen, entire or with 1–3 mucronate-cuspidate teeth in the upper part, symmetric and cuneate at the base; lateral leaflets narrower and c. 1/3 shorter than the median one, usually entire or sometimes also with few teeth, asymmetric at the base; midrib, lateral nerves and reticulation paler coloured than the lamina, prominulous on both surfaces.
Inflorescences
Panicles narrow, the axillary ones shorter, the terminal ones nearly as long as the leaves; axis, branches, bracts and pedicels (1 mm. long) villous.
Calyx
Calyx-segments c. 1 mm. long, ovate-lanceolate, sparsely villous to glabrous.
Corolla
Petals c. 1·5–2 mm. long, oblong, obtuse.
