    Habit
    Stems numerous, prostrate, radiating from a slender branched perennial rootstock, forming mats, 15–40 cm long, slender, pubescent.
    Leaves
    Leaves 3-foliolate, shortly petiolate; stipules single at a node, 1–6 mm long, shortly stalked, linear to narrowly oblong-elliptic or oblanceolate; leaflets 5–15 × 3–7 mm, obovate, slightly emarginate, pubescent beneath, in Tanzania sometimes also above.
    Flowers
    Flowers 1–4 at the ends of short shoots; bracts 1–2 mm long, linear to linear-elliptic or linear-oblanceolate, lower ones recaulescent, emerging from the longer pedicel; pedicels 4–7 mm long; bracteoles c. 1 mm long, filiform.
    Calyx
    Calyx c. 5.5–6 mm long, pubescent; upper and lateral lobes joined higher, 2 mm long, narrowly triangular-subulate.
    Corolla
    Standard yellow, with a brown midvein outside, longer than the keel, pubescent outside; keel 9–10 mm long, shortly rounded at the tip, pubescent outside.

    Stipule solitary, leafy, ± oblong, up to 6 mm. long, often much smaller.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence at the ends of short lateral branches, racemose or subumbellate, 1–4-flowered.
    Calyx
    Calyx ± 6 mm. long, shortly pilose.
    Corolla
    Petals yellow, ± shortly pilose; standard 10 mm. long; keel slightly shorter.
    Pistil
    Ovary with the upper half and lower part of the style usually appressed pubescent; ovules ± 7–8.
    Fruits
    Pod unknown.
    Habitat
    Upland grassland, often in bare stony or sandy places; 1800–2000 m.
