    Habit
    Shrub or scandent shrub 1-9 m tall; stems purplish, shortly pubescent with simple appressed ascending hairs.
    Leaves
    Leaves shortly petiolate, ovate or elliptic, slightly pandurate, 5-11.5 cm long, 1.5-4 cm wide, base cuneate, cordate, retuse or truncate, margins sinuate-serrate, apex acuminate or somewhat attenuate, apiculate, very shortly scattered-pubescent and glabrescent above, shortly pubescent on veins beneath; petiole 0.4-0.8 cm long.
    Capitulum
    Capitula in rather terminal compound corymbiform cymes; pedicel with dense ascending-crispate hairs; involucre campanulate, slightly spreading, 7-10 mm long; phyllaries in several series, outer lanceolate, long-attenuate, subequalling the median, ascending-pubescent, the inner obtuse to acute, ± apiculate, glabrous except near apex, purple-tinged in upper part, 6.8-9.5 mm long.
    Flowers
    Corolla pink, mauve, lilac or blue, 8.5-10 mm long, lobes 2-2.5 mm long, glabrous or with a few long ascending hairs.
    Fruits
    Achenes (immature) 2.7-3.2 mm long, 5-ribbed, glabrous or almost so; outer pappus 0.6-1.2 mm long, inner pappus white, 5.5-6.2 mm long.
    Habitat
    Rain-forest and forest margins; 900-1100 m
