    Perennial herb up to 1 m with stems arising from a woody root-stock.

    Stems reddish or pale brown, erect or decumbent, simple or branched, leafy throughout, pubescent with down-curving hairs
    Leaves
    Leaves opposite and alternate, densely or loosely fascicled, spreading, oblanceolate to linear-lanceolate to linear, 5–25 mm long, 0.5–6 mm wide, base tapering, apex acute to obtuse, margins entire, midrib channelled above, mainly the margins and midline hairy, ± sparsely hairy on surfaces, glandular-punctate; fascicled leaves smaller above, 5–15 mm long

    Inflorescence of few-flowered racemes forming lax corymbs arranged in round-topped corymbose panicles; bracts adnate to pedicel and part of calyx tube, oblong to oblanceolate, 2–3 mm long, obtuse, concave, glabrous, villous on margins; pedicels up to 1 mm long

    Calyx 1.5–2 mm long, 5-lobed to about half its length, the two dorsal lobes larger than the other three, oblong to triangular, margins pale, hairy

    Corolla tube 1.5–1.8 mm long, limb 3–4 mm across the lateral lobes; lobes pale blue to purplish, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, ± 1 mm long
