    Habit
    Small shrub very similar to G. villosa but with long virgate stems from a woody rootstock.
    Stem
    Young stems densely stellate-pubescent, not villous.
    Leaves
    Leaves subcircular, 2.5–11 cm long, 2.5–10 cm wide, ± rounded to obtuse or slightly apiculate at the apex, cordate at the base, margin coarsely serrate or dentate, veins prominent and finely reticulate, sparsely pubescent above but denser on the veins, densely stellate-pubescent beneath but without longer hairs on the veins; petioles 0.5–3 cm long, densely stellate-pubescent; stipules subulate, 8–11 mm long.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence 2–4 cm across, usually with more than 20 flowers.
    Perianth
    Sepals 5–7 mm long; petals oblong, 3–4 mm long, ± 1 mm wide.
    Androgynophore
    Androgynophore ± absent.
    Pistil
    Ovary ± 1 mm long, densely hairy; style ± 4.5 mm long.
    Fruits
    Fruit 2–4-lobed, ± 1.8 cm wide, tuberculate.

    Habit
    Very like G. villosa Willd. but with long virgate branches arising from a woody rootstock.
    Stipules
    Stipules linear or filiform, somewhat keeled and up to 13 mm. long.
    Bracts
    Bracts up to 10 mm. long, narrowly lanceolate to linear-lanceolate or sometimes bifid, pubescent.
    Stigma
    Stigma-lobes broad and flat with toothed or lobed margins.
    Flowers
    Flowers smaller than in G. villosa and more per inflorescence.
    Note
    Otherwise as in G. villosa.
