    General Description
    Tuber Unknown. LEAF: Petiole to 2 m long; lamina ca. 70 cm in diam., rachises winged but for the most proximal parts; leaflets elongate or obliquely ovate, 4-12 cm lotig, 1.2-2.5 cm in diam. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle ca. 70 cm long, 1-2 cm diam., with large, confluent spots. Spathe (20-)40-50 cm long (fide Enlg. 1881, 80-90 cm long), limb and base separated by a shallow constriction, base inside dark purple, with distinctly raised veins, continuing to the constriction, outside with rounded, purple spots on a pale background, limb outside with many circular, occasionally confluent purple spots, margin purple, straight. Spadix sessile, shorter than spathe, 20-25 cm long (fide Engl. 1881, 30.5 cm long); female zone more or less cylindric, 2.4-4 cm long, ca. 2 cm in diam., flowers slightly distant or adjacent, not congested; male zone cylindric, ca. 2 cm long, ca. 2.5 cm in diam., flowers congested; appendix cylindric to conic (fide Engl. 1881, 25 cm long), smooth, with a waxy layer. Ovaries ovoid to elongate-ovoid, 2-3 mm high, 1.5-2 mm in diam., l-(?2-) locular; style 1-1.5 mm long, 0.5-0.9 mm in diam., clearly separated from the ovary, darker than the latter (purple); stigma small, 0.5-0.8 mm high, 1 mm in diam., rounded in outline, depressed globose in lateral view, entire or with two indistinct, slightly depressed-rounded lobes. Stamens 1.5-2 mm long, 1 mm in diam.; filaments ca. 0.5 mm long; anthers 1-1.5 mm long, 1 mm in diam., ellipsoid-oblong, pores apical. Pollen inaperturate, exine finely fossulate. INFRUCTESCENCE: Berries ovoid, with style-remnant, 1-seeded. Seeds ovoid.
