    Habit
    Treelet or shrub, sometimes lianescent, hemi-epiphytic.
    Twigs
    Leafy twigs 2–4 mm. thick, glabrous or puberulous, periderm not flaking off.
    Leaves
    Leaves in spirals; lamina coriaceous, oblong to lanceolate, subobovate or elliptic, (6–)10–20(–28) × (2–)3.5–7 cm., apex acuminate, base acute to rounded, margin entire; both surfaces glabrous; lateral veins 8–11 pairs, the lower ones relatively small, tertiary venation reticulate; petiole 0.8–4.5 cm. long, 1–2 mm. thick, epiderm flaking off when dry or not; stipules (0.5–)1–2.5 cm. long, basally connate, glabrous, ± persistent.
    Infructescences
    Figs in pairs or solitary in the leaf-axils, sessile; basal bracts 2–4 mm. long, persistent.
    Receptacle
    Receptacle subglobose to obovoid or sometimes subpyriform, 2–3 cm. in diameter when fresh, (0.5–) 1.5–2.5 cm. when dry, glabrous or subhispid, verrucose or smooth, at maturity greenish with reddish spots or warts or partly reddish; wall 1–4 mm. thick when dry.
    Habitat
    Not recorded in Uganda, but elsewhere in areas with rain-forest, drier types of evergreen or semi-deciduous forest, at altitudes up to 1200(–1500) m.
