    Habit
    Tree up to 20 m. tall, hemi-epiphytic or secondarily terrestrial, with spreading crown.
    Twigs
    Leafy twigs 10–15 mm. in diameter, puberulous and usually also white to yellow pubescent or subhirsute, periderm flaking off when dry.
    Leaves
    Leaves in spirals; lamina coriaceous, oblong or subobovate or oblanceolate, (10–) 15–50 × 3–17(–25) cm., apex acuminate, base acute to obtuse or ± cordate, margin entire; upper surface glabrous, lower surface puberulous to hirtellous, on the main veins to subhirsute; lateral veins 12–20 pairs (in smaller blades, less than 15 cm. long, sometimes 10–11 pairs); tertiary venation partly scalariform; petiole 1–8(–16) cm. long, 4–7 mm. thick, periderm flaking off when dry; stipules 1–8 cm. long, on flush up to 12 cm., outside brown to yellowish pubescent, inside with long appressed yellow hairs, caducous or subpersistent.
    Infructescences
    Figs up to 3 together in the leaf-axils or just below the leaves, subsessile, initially in a greyish subvillous calyptrate bud up to 1 cm. long; basal bracts 7–15 mm. long, persistent.
    Receptacle
    Receptacle subglobose, sometimes obovoid, 2–4 cm. in diameter when fresh, 1.5–3 cm. when dry, yellow to orange-brown subhirsute to villous, yellow to orange or reddish at maturity.
    Habitat
    Forest, often at edges, riverine or at lakesides; 900–1600 m.
