    Habit
    Erect completely glabrous herb up to 40 cm. tall; stem often unbranched, zigzag, deeply sulcate or winged; tendrils absent.
    Leaves
    Leaves digitately 5–7-foliolate; petiole 3–9·5 cm. long; leaflet-lamina up to 13·5 × 3·5 cm., subsessile, narrowly obovate, apiculate at the apex, margin serrate to irregularly pinnatifid, narrowly cuneate at the base; stipules up to 6 cm. long, ovate.
    Inflorescences
    Cymes relatively few-flowered, axillary, up to 3 cm. in diam.; peduncle up to 3 cm. long; pedicels 3–4 mm. long; bracts and bracteoles 0–5–2 mm. long, ovate.
    Buds
    Flower-bud 2·5 × 1·5 mm., conical.
    Calyx
    Calyx up to 1 mm. long, subentire.
    Corolla
    Petals reddish-green.
    Pistil
    Ovary 0–5 mm. long; style 1 mm. long; stigma slightly capitate.
    Fruits
    Fruit 9 × 8 mm., globose.
    Seeds
    Seed 1, 5 × 4 mm., ± smooth.
