    Habit
    Annual or biennial olive-green pubescent herb; branches prostrate, rarely procumbent, up to 80 cm. long; internodes 1.5-6 cm. long and 2-4 mm. in diameter.
    Leaves
    Leaves 2-6 cm. long; leaflets 3-7 pairs, ovate to lanceolate, 4-12 × 2-4 mm.; stipules lanceolate, 4 × 2 mm.
    Flowers
    Flower small, usually up to 8 mm. across (but see note); pedicel 4-6 mm. long, shorter than the subtending leaf.
    Calyx
    Sepals 4 × 2 mm., deciduous.
    Corolla
    Petals yellow or white, 5 × 4 mm.
    Stamens
    Stamens 5-8; filaments 2-3 mm. long; anthers 1 mm. long.
    Pistil
    Ovary 2-2.5 mm. in diameter; style very short or absent; stigma ovoid, 0.5-1 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Fruit pyramidal to spheroidal, 5-13 mm. in diameter including wings; stalk 4-11 mm. long; mericarp 2-8 mm., sparingly hairy, 2-winged; wings entire to dentate or serrate, 2-6 mm. broad, extending partially or along the whole mericarp.
