    General Description

    A terrestrial herb with approximate growths on a short rhizome. Leaves 4–6, narrowly elliptic or oblong-elliptic, obtuse and minutely tridenticulate at apex, up to 20 cm long, 4 cm wide, rather obscurely tessellated with dark and pale green above, margins ciliate at base. Inflorescence 1- (or rarely 2-) flowered, erect; peduncle up to 25 cm long, purple, densely pubescent; bract ovate, acute, 2–3 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, pubescent, green, veined maroon. Flower 8.5–10.5 cm across; ovary 5–6.5 cm, pubescent, green with maroon ribs. Dorsal sepal ovate to broadly ovate, acute, 3.3–3.6 cm long, 3.6–4.2 cm wide, white, veined with green. Synsepal concave, ovate, acute, 2.6–3.1 cm long, 1.5–1.9 cm wide, green, veined with darker green. Petals slightly recurved, oblanceolate, subacute, 5.5–6 cm long, 1.5–1.8 cm wide, white, lined with green and with a purple apical half, spotted maroon in basal twothirds. Lip 4.5 cm long, 2.6–3 cm wide, dull purple, apical margin ciliate; side-lobes warty, maroonmarked. Staminode subcircular to almost hexagonal, apically emarginate and shortly mucronate, 9–10 mm long, 10 mm wide, yellow-green, longitudinally lined with green. 2n = 40.
