Bushy glabrous perennial 15–30 cm high and to 90 cm wide

A swollen succulent stem to 5 cm high, 2.5 cm thick, marked with prominent leaf-scars; branches numerous from the stem apex, somewhat fleshy, rebranching trichotomously and dichotomously

Leaves linear-lanceolate, 2–6 x 0.2–0.8 cm; petiole 5–10 mm long; stipules filamentous, deciduous
