    Habit
    Spreading subshrublet to 30 cm tall.
    Stem
    Stems whitish tomentellous
    Leaves
    Leaves cuneate to broadly obovate, 3–12 × 2–8 mm, indented at apex with midrib projecting into emargination, entire or larger with 1–2 teeth per side, glabrous above, whitish tomentellous beneath; petiole 1.5–4 mm long; stipules filiform to linear, 1–3 mm long
    Flowers
    Flowers solitary or up to 5 in terminal clusters; pedicel 1–2.5 mm long, pubescent; calyx 3–4.5 mm long, densely pubescent or tomentose
    Corolla
    Corolla yellow; petals 7–9 mm long with claw sparsely ciliate.
    Stamens
    Staminal tube 1.5–2 mm long, sparsely hairy at least at base
    Fruits
    Mericarps 5, 3–3.5 × 2–2.5 mm, densely pubescent on back which is strongly reticulately sculptured and with two indistinct projections at transition from body to beak; lateral angles muricate; sides reticulate, thin and papery between ridges but not breaking, eventually opening slightly along ventral suture but not releasing seed; beak under 0.5 mm long.

    Seed ± 2.5 mm long, appressed crisped hairy.
    Ecology
    Especially grassland with Acacia drepanolobium etc. on black soil, Acacia–Commiphora bushland, dry stony riverbeds with Pennisetum etc.; 1500–1750(–1900) m
