    Habit
    Annual herb 75 cm tall; stems thinly pubescent.
    Leaves
    Leaves elliptic, 2-3 cm long, 0.3-1 cm wide, base rounded, margins entire (?undulate), apex acute with a dark mucro, green and thinly tomentose above, white and thickly tomentose beneath.
    Capitulum
    Capitula rather numerous in compound terminal and upper axillary corymbiform cymes; stalks of individual capitula finely pubescent; involucre hemispherical, 3 mm in diameter at flowering time; phyllaries dark green in centre in upper part, hyaline on the margins, the outer narrowly ovate, inner oblong-elliptic, 3.8-4 mm long, obtuse, shortly weakly mucronulate-apiculate, finely hairy.
    Flowers
    Corolla deep violet, 4-5 mm long, glandular, lobes 1.5-2 mm long, shortly hairy at the apex.
    Fruits
    Achenes broadly turbinate, 1-1.5 mm long, truncate, 3-4-angled, finely rather densely ascending-hairy; pappus absent.
    Habitat
    In Acacia bushland on black cotton soil; 1050 m
