This species is accepted
The native range of this species is Canary Islands (Gran Canaria), Ethiopia to S. Africa, Madagascar, Réunion, St. Helena, Ascension, Socotra, Yemen, Medit. to Japan and Tropical Asia. It is a rhizomatous geophyte or lithophyte and grows primarily in the subtropical biome. It is has environmental uses, as a medicine and for food.
