Leaves alternate, imparipinnate, aggregated at the ends of the branches.

Flowers dioecious in axillary panicles. Male flowers: calyx 4–5-partite, the segments imbricate; petals 4(5), longer than the calyx, imbricate; stamens 7–10; filaments inserted below the disk, subulate at the apex, flattened at the base; anthers oblong-ovate; vestigial ovary at the centre of the cup-shaped crenulate disk. Female flowers with perianth similar to that of the male; staminodes conspicuous; ovary rhomboid with 4–5 sessile stigmas.
