Morphology General Habit
Many-branched bush or shrubby tree to 9 m. high.

Leaves sessile (rarely petiolate, see note on variation below) obovate, to ± 17 × 7 cm., apex rounded to obtuse with a recurved tip, margin minutely toothed, midrib prominent and ± keeled beneath, both surfaces of the lamina ± densely pubescent especially when young.

Inflorescence in pseudumbels of 3–5 cymes on pubescent peduncles to 5 cm. long; cymes 1–2-forked, with densely pubescent branches to 2.5 cm. long; bracts rounded to subquadrate, ± 3.5 × 3.5 mm., entire or with a few teeth, pubescent.

Cyathia ± 2.5 × 8 mm., with broadly funnel-shaped involucres, pubescent below; glandular rim ± 1.3 mm. wide, distinctly grooved with a very narrow smooth margin, yellow to greenish red; lobes subquadrate, ± 2 × 2.5 mm., sparsely pubescent.
