Note
The name Lindernia serpens has been made for this species. The name originally used, Lindernia philcoxii, is illegitimate as when Fischer made the name he cited an earier valid name, Ilysanthes ugandensis Skan in synonymy. This he should have used as the basionym for a new combination. However, having seen the type of I. ugandensis, I (D.P.) consider it to be distinct from the above and have included it in this treatment under the new combination Lindernia ugandensis (Skan) Philcox. The epithet ‘pusilla’ cannot be used here as the name has already been used by Boldingh (1916) without citing any basionym in synonymy, and from the scant description it cannot compare with any certainty with our species.
