Two specimens are cited in the protologue: West Africa, Senegal [Senegambia], 1838, Guillemin s.n. & and Pemba, Bojer s.n.; I (S.A.G.) have not been able to trace the latter, and have therefore chosen the former housed at K as the lectotype.
